Norman pauses, seeming almost to nod off, then jerks awake again to say, "And don't forget my band." Thief, Carlo and Glenda freeze as they realize Norman has heard everything they have said. He grins.

"OK, here it is. The 2004 AFFA Award for best director goes to...."

Michael Gondry for 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.' Wow, what a surprise. It's like none of you even saw 'Dawn of the Dead.' Or that other movie, you know, with the guy and the girl..."

Suddenly, Norman stumbles back, then forward, then back again. An alert stagehand rushes out with a beanbag chair just in time. Norman collapses into the lime green blob, and falls fast asleep.

"Thank God," mutters Carlo. "Maybe we can get on to 2005."

As the stagehand drags the beanbag chair and its occupant offstage, Norman stirs and says, "The breakdown, the breakdown..."

Thanks, zookieman, and humble apologies to C.J. for my extreme tardiness.

And zook since you persist and insist on calling me "Norm," I'm just gonna have to put you on that very - and I mean very - short list of people from whom I will tolerate that moniker. :^)

We going to finish this?!

I'm assuming Eternal Sunshine squeeked home for Best Picture but would be interested to know who won Best Supporting and Best Actor. Unless the latter is Jim Carrey in which case I was beter off not knowing.

I've been meaning to post the results of the last two categories before Best Picture, but to be honest, I've had (and I'm still) in the middle of a lot of work. Barely getting online to check e-mail. Will try to do so tomorrow or sometime before this week ends. My apologies. Going to sleep now.

And thanks for the special dispensation, norm! :)

I'm actually shocked at that Best Actor win.

No problem, C.J...and pardon my lack of creativity...I just for some reason had no more juice to pump into this ceremony...weak offering or weak year? A little bit of both, maybe, considering how hard we found it to even finish the show.

"Woo-hoo!" Oh wait, that's the other guy's rag...but nevertheless, what a pleasant surprise! And what a tight pack! At a glance, I would say this was our closest (and most evenly distributed) race this year.

BTW, nice bit with the Robin Williams' statuary C.J....funnier than Robots in its entirety!

Again, I apologize for the delays. I had to fill in for two or three presentations, and I've been in the middle of a lot of work and personal problems. No excuse, but just trying to express my sincere apologies for not making the best this year.

Close thing on the best actor front. One of the few interesting races this year. Am glad neither Foxx nor Carrey won. And even though that was our only surprise of the ceremony that's still one more than the Oscars.

Nice touch C.J., appreciate the recap (I forgot how many awards Hero won and how few went to anything else*)!

And thanks again for all the work you (and Adam too) put into these shows.

* ...other than Eternal Sunshine. Oh well, if something had to sweep, it was a better than the choices in recent years.

If you look again, "winner" Bryce Dallas Howard's name is bolder than the other four. I guess thief just wanted to show all the Pearls Before Swine nominees again.

Last year we decided we wouldn't vote for the Pearls Before Swine award, and that we would just present the nominees as a tongue-in-cheek category. However, I don't remember if that was cancelled for this year, or what... but since I got votes for the award, and I counted them, and there was a presentation for it, I decided to just show all the nominees and highlight the one that got the most votes.
